Overview
The Junior Africa Cup (JAC) is the premier continental championship for junior field hockey in Africa, organized by the African Hockey Federation (AfHF).
Purpose: The JAC is the primary qualification tournament for the FIH Junior Hockey World Cups. The top three men’s and women’s teams from the JAC typically earn a spot in the respective Junior World Cups.
The competition has been held since at least 1978 for men. It features separate men’s and women’s tournaments for under-21 national teams. The number of participating teams has varied, with the 2024 edition featuring eight men’s and seven women’s teams.
Men’s: South Africa are the most recent champions, having won in 2024. They also hold the record for the most titles (6), followed by Egypt (5).
Women’s: South Africa also won the women’s title in the 2024 edition.
Participating Nations: Regular participants include South Africa, Namibia, Egypt, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nigeria, and Ghana.
